Lullingstone Roman Villa is currently closed for maintenance, so they were unfortunately not able to go on a trip this term. Year 5 trip to Kent Life
Thu 12 Sep 2024Year 5 had a fantastic day at Kent life, we took part in a number of workshops discovering what life was like in Victorian Britain and we even got to meet Florence Nightingale herself! We experienced first-hand what a Victorian classroom would have been like, the boys and girls were separated and we used slate and chalk to complete our work! We made sure we were on our best behaviour as our teacher was very strict. We had a go at doing some of the jobs that would have been carried out by the housekeepers and were all shocked to learn that there were no washing machines or toilets! We also spent some time looking around the homes and shops of the past and said hello to the animals on the farm. We are looking forward to including what we learnt into our learning this term to help us understand what life was like for children in Victorian Britain.

Positive Playtime Award
Mon 01 Jul 2024As a school we are ecstatic to have received the Positive Playtime Award. We are very passionate about our children's playtimes and the midday staff along with the play leaders work really hard to ensure the activities set out will suit every child. There is something for everyone from quiet zones to dancing and football. The Circus craze was a huge hit with a lot of children last week.
It was stated that outstanding practice was seen, we are very proud of the positive feedback given along with the award.
The comments made from our stakeholders are as follows
‘when we get lunchtimes right it has a 100% knock on into learning.’
‘behaviour incidents have reduced by approx. 80% plus
‘We are now meeting our 30% of daily activity in schools to meet the Childhood Obesity Plan’
All my children have had issues with confidence until the positive playtime programme came along! It’s given my daughter a confidence boost and she is so much more confident. She comes home talking about all the playground activities and she now plays lots of the games and activities that she’s learnt at school with her siblings.’
There’s so much diversity, no one is going to be left out.’

Year 2 Beach Trip
Thu 27 Jun 2024Year 2 trip to the beach
On Thursday Year 2 went on another journey for their final trip of the year. They ventured to the lovely Viking Bay Beach in Broadstairs. The children were so excited getting onto the beach that the first thing they wanted to do was dig in the sand. After hours of sandcastles, digging holes and burying friends (Miss Ross was buried too) it was time to stop for lunch where the adults put on their superhero capes and defeated the seagulls so the children could eat their lunch undisturbed! After lunch Year 2 went on a scavenger hunt to see what they could spot at the beach while the cricket set was unpacked and Miss Sullivan had to help with the rules of beach cricket. Finally, it was time to come home and there were a lot of sleepy children on the bus on the way back. Singing could be heard upstairs while Miss Sullivan had a competition to see how many hats could the children convince her to balance on her head. All in all, a wonderful ending to Year 2! -
Year 3 trip to Gurdwara
Thu 06 Jun 2024Year 3 were fortunate enough to travel by train to visit the Gurdwara in Gravesend to help deepen their learning of the Sikh faith and bring their RE lessons to life. During their time there, they got to see a service in motion where the Guru Granth Sahib was being read, they had a tour around the grand building where they got to admire the architecture, they learnt how to turn a 6 metre piece of material into a turban, they listened to the singing of a Sikh song in the Punjabi language and they were welcomed into the Gurdwara's kitchen: The Langar, where they were served a meal. They had the opportunity to ask plenty of questions and hear from Sikhs about what is important to them in their religion. The children were superbly behaved throughout the trip and showed the utmost respect. Well done Year 3!

The squad consisted of Bailey, Malachi, Rayyan, Charlie, Louie C and Asher from Year 1 and Luwan and Damasi from Year 2. All players contributed goals with Asher taking the 'golden boot' with 12 goals! A big thank you to Mr. Bokungu for his support coaching the team with Mr. Bennett
