Year 4 Workshop
Thu 26 Sep 2024Year 4 enjoyed their Roman artefact session in school in school. Lullingstone Roman Villa is currently closed for maintenance, so they were unfortunately not able to go on a trip this term. However, Lullingstone Roman Villa provided this Outreach Session free of charge, and taught the children about who would have lived at the villa, why its location was important and gave the pupils time to explore some artefacts too. A fantastic experience, which was enjoyed by all.

The focus of the experience was seasonal change, habitats and natural play with the objective to gain and acquire high-level vocabulary and language to transfer into writing. It was a thoroughly enjoyed trip by all children, some of which had never visited a woodland before! We love the children's curious nature!

Year 5 trip to Kent Life
Thu 12 Sep 2024Year 5 had a fantastic day at Kent life, we took part in a number of workshops discovering what life was like in Victorian Britain and we even got to meet Florence Nightingale herself! We experienced first-hand what a Victorian classroom would have been like, the boys and girls were separated and we used slate and chalk to complete our work! We made sure we were on our best behaviour as our teacher was very strict. We had a go at doing some of the jobs that would have been carried out by the housekeepers and were all shocked to learn that there were no washing machines or toilets! We also spent some time looking around the homes and shops of the past and said hello to the animals on the farm. We are looking forward to including what we learnt into our learning this term to help us understand what life was like for children in Victorian Britain.
