Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2!

 

RE - We will be learning about how we should care for the world and others. We will be thinking about why this is important.

 

English - We will be focusing on two great books - Kasia’s Surprise and Beegu. We will be developing our writing skills through letters, diaries, and narratives.

 

Maths - We will be utilising our knowledge of number bonds and using this knowledge to develop our addition and subtraction skills.

 

Geography - We will be learning about the Oceans. We will learn about the features and locations of the Oceans. We will also learn about compass points and how people navigate the oceans.

 

Science - We will be learning about materials and their properties. We will be learning how to choose the best material for a purpose based on its properties..

 

D.T. - We will be learning about which shapes are best for creating strong structures. We will using this knowledge to design and make a chair for baby bear.

 

Computing - We will be learning about photography and developing our skills to take our own photos.

 

Music - We will be beginning to learn about the ocarina as well as learning songs for our nativity performance.

 

P.E. - We will be continuing to develop our throwing and catching skills as well as learning how to play handball.

 

PSHE - We will be looking at celebrating differences.

 

We will also be working hard on our Nativity Play which we are Looking forward to sharing with you.

Nativity: This year, Year 2 will be performing Lights, Camel, Action for our nativity. Children have been given scripts with highlighted parts. Please read through the highlighted parts with your children, this will help them learn their lines. We have also attached the songs and the lyrics for all songs are on the printed scripts.

P.E

 

PE is on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Please make sure that your PE kit is in school ready for PE.

Earrings should not be worn on PE days.

 

PE Kit

 

Royal Blue polo or T-shirt.

This must be different from the shirt worn in the classroom

Blue or black plain shorts.

Black plimsolls, worn for indoor PE and Dance in the hall;

A spare pair of socks, kept only for PE;

Trainers, worn for outdoor PE and games on both the field and playground;

Tracksuit bottoms, worn for outdoor PE only.

 

Spellings

Spellings will be put on the website every Monday and children will be tested the following Friday. Children should practice spellings weekly. Our next spelling test is on:

Friday 8th November
