Year 5 trip to Kent Life
Year 5 had a fantastic day at Kent life, we took part in a number of workshops discovering what life was like in Victorian Britain and we even got to meet Florence Nightingale herself! We experienced first-hand what a Victorian classroom would have been like, the boys and girls were separated and we used slate and chalk to complete our work! We made sure we were on our best behaviour as our teacher was very strict. We had a go at doing some of the jobs that would have been carried out by the housekeepers and were all shocked to learn that there were no washing machines or toilets! We also spent some time looking around the homes and shops of the past and said hello to the animals on the farm. We are looking forward to including what we learnt into our learning this term to help us understand what life was like for children in Victorian Britain.
