Term 5 Learning Overview

This term, Year 2 will be learning about a range of interesting topics across the curriculum. In Guided Reading, we will be reading Fantastic Mr Fox and The Proudest Blue, focusing on understanding vocabulary, answering questions, and discussing the stories.
In Writing, children will create comic strips, speeches, reports, and stories. They will learn how to plan their ideas and write clearly. In Maths, we will be working on measurement (length, mass, and capacity) and fractions.
In Geography, our topic is Islands. Children will learn what an island is and find islands on a map. We will look closely at the Bahamas and think about what it is like to live there. We will also compare it to islands in the UK and learn about different physical features. At the end of the topic, children will write a postcard using what they have learned.
In Science, we will be learning about living things and their habitats, including woodland and ocean habitats, as well as food chains. In RE, we will learn about how Jewish people celebrate and remember important traditions.
We will also be developing skills in music, art, computing, and PE, as well as learning about friendships and respect in PSHE.
