This term, Year 5 will be learning about Ancient Benin. Our key question this term is "What was life like in Ancient Benin? How can we possibly know?"

Pupils will learn about what Benin had to offer foreign traders and who produced the goods for trading. They will look at the advantages of having a rainforest and being bordered by the Atlantic Ocean including rivers such as Niger and Benue. Children will explore how the Kingdom of Benin prepared for war to expand their kingdom and the weaponry the soldiers had access to.
