Growing Tomorrow's Leaders

Inter-Faith Week

In November, we celebrated Inter-Faith week across the school.

As a diverse church school, events like this are really important to our community.

Our main aims were

- to strengthen relationships between people of different faiths.

- to increase understanding between people who have religious beliefs and those who have non-religious beliefs.

- to increase people’s awareness of the different faith communities in the UK and to celebrate the contribution that their members make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society.

Each year group was allocated one of the world's major religions to focus on:

Yr R – Hindu Dharma: learning focused on Diwali. Children made paper plate diva lamps and elephant handprints.

Yr 1 – Judaism: learning focused on Jewish New Year. Children made Rosh Hashanah gift boxes and Shanah Tova crafts.

Yr 2 – Sikhi: learning focused on Vaisakhi (birth of the Khalsa). Children made puppets and kite crafts.

Yr 3 – Hindu Dharma: learning focused on Diwali. Children made Rangoli pattern window decorations and kandil lanterns.

Yr 4 – Islam: learning focused on Ramadan. Children made Mosque suncatchers.

Yr 5 – Buddhism Dhamma: learning focused on Wesak/Vesak Buddha’s birthday. Children made Lotus flower lanterns.

Yr 6 – Judaism: learning focused on Hanukah. Children made treasure baskets.

Each class's link RE Ambassador joined their celebrations and contributed to their learning and assisted the teacher in the activities.
