The Moon Landing

We hope you have had a lovely and refreshing half-term and are ready for another exciting term of learning!

This term, Year 2 will be exploring The Moon Landing and the incredible achievements of space exploration. Pupils will discover who Neil Armstrong and Tim Peake are and learn about their historic journeys into space. We will explore why the Moon Landing was such a significant achievement, sequence the key events, and compare the experiences of different astronauts. Pupils will also investigate whether humans have been to the Moon again and reflect on the advances in space travel.

Through this topic, pupils will develop a sense of wonder about our universe while linking their learning across subjects. In Science, they will investigate materials and healthy living; in RE, they will explore how people care for others and the world; and in Writing, they will create letters, diaries, and stories inspired by astronauts and aliens visiting Dartford. This cross-curricular approach ensures a rich and engaging learning experience throughout the term.
