Growing Tomorrow's Leaders

Thursday 4th March

Good Morning Year 2

Share a story!

World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. It is to encourage reading for pleasure. According to worldbookday.com, reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income. We want to see more children develop a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings them.

In 2021 World Book Day, just like everything else, will be different. However, we still want it to send a powerful and positive message about books and reading, even in lockdown.

The theme for this years World Book Day is Share and Story. We would like to encourage you to share your favourite story, the story you wrote this week or any story you can find with your mums, dads, grandparents, siblings, pets or toys! Get reading, get sharing and lets develop a love and passion for stories.

Today will be our last online registration at 10am as tomorrow is a screen free day and on Monday we will be back in our classrooms!

Today we would like you to write the ending for the story you have been writing all week. Try to make sure that you have solved your problem and included lots of exciting language! I have attached the Power Point to remind you of what your story should have included. I wonder if your story will have a happy ending?

When you have written your story, why not design a front cover that could be used if your story was published into your own book! Why not have a  look at a book you have home, what do you notice about the front cover?

Please make sure that you send your stories into myself to myself and Mrs Schoeman today so we can mark your amazing adventure stories.

World Book Day activities. How many challenges can you complete?

Miss Ross's favourite book

Miss Ross would like to share with you her favourite book, 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' by Charlie Macksey.

Enjoy a story with Mrs Schoeman - The book with no pictures
