 Topic

Today we would like you to think about your favourite snow memory from the last few days. Have you been out to play in the snow? Did you make a snowman? Did you make snow angels? We really hope you have been having lots of fun! We would like you to write down one of your snow memories. What happened? How did it make you feel? What did you do? What did you wear? Remember to start your sentences with a capital letter, leave finger spaces between your words, include adjectives, end your sentences with a piece of punctuation and include a picture too. Go and enjoy the snow while it is still here! We can’t wait to read your memories.

Story

Today’s book is called ‘Winnie in Winter’ by Valerie Thomas and it is read by English Lessons Online. See if you can answer these questions with your parent as you go through the video, make sure you pause the video in places to give you a chance to answer. Feel free to answer the questions verbally or write your answers down if you want to.

  1. What do you think the book will be about?
  2. Which adjectives could you use to describe the snow?
  3. Does Winnie like the snow? How do you know?
  4. What did Winnie wear to go outside?
  5. What do you think will happen when Winnie waves her wand?
  6. Do you prefer winter or summer? Why?
  7. Has Winnie done the right thing?
  8. Why did everyone come to Winnie’s garden?

Maths

If you would like further practice, then please click on this link to watch an additional video. Please select the 'Ordering numbers to 50' video.

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/spring-week-6-number-place-value-within-50/

We are going to use all the skills that we have learned so far to order umbers to 50 today. Remember to look at the 10s first to figure out which number is bigger. If both the 10s are the same then you look at the 1s to see which number is bigger. We are going to be using the same language as we have been over the past couple of days; more than, less than, equal and the symbols. Make sure that you know which way you have been asked to order the numbers. Is it from greatest to smallest or smalless to greatest. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint (and watched the additional video if you would like further practice) then choose a worksheet to complete. As an additional challenge, I have added on the mastery cards as well.

Spellings

Keep practicing your spellings, your final test is tomorrow!
