In today’s Phonics lesson we are looking at past and present tense. Remember that if we are writing about something that has happened, we would be writing in the past tense. Likewise, if we are writing about something happening now, we would be writing in the present tense.

For example, I painted a beautiful picture.

I am painting a beautiful picture.

It is really important that when we write we are using the correct tense.

I would like you to go through the PowerPoint and have a go at guessing whether the sentences are written in the past tense or the present tense.

I would then like you to have a go at the verb sorting activity. Remember a verb is a doing word.
