Reading
Today’s book is called ‘Eat your Peas’ by Kes Gray and Nick Sharratt. It is read by Markus Monkey from Red Apple Reading. See if you can answer these questions with your parent as you go through the video, make sure you pause the video in places to give you a chance to answer. Feel free to answer the questions verbally or write your answers down if you want to.
Maths
Today in Maths we are going to add by counting on. You will explore counting on from a given number, you will see that addition is commutative, but it is easier to add on from the largest number. You will add on to a number that you already have and use visuals and addition stories to help you see what you have started with, what has happened and what you are left with. You will use different representations of physical equipment such as tens frames, bar models and number lines. You will understand what the pictorials represent, for example one counter is equal to one, one chunk of the bar is equal to one and one interval on the number line is equal to one. I will go through some warm up questions with you first to show you how to answer the questions. I would then like you to have a go at some practice questions so that you can independently apply these skills. Your main Maths task is uploaded below the Maths PowerPoint in a PDF format. At the end of the PowerPoint are some challenge questions for you to have a go at, remember to explain your answers using your reasoning skills. Try your best! I can’t wait to see your work.
