How did World War II begin?
Today, we will be launching ourselves into our new topic of World War Two. We will be looking at the years between the end of the First World War and the start of the Second World War. We will be scrutinising the events that occur within this time period and discovering how they resulted in a second world war. Use the Power Point to help you identify key events, use the questions to think a little more deeply about how these events were important and think about how you would have felt if you had been alive at this time. You will be put into role as a British Secret Service Agent this week and asked to gather evidence for the prime minister - Neville Chamberlain - who has the heavy decision of bringing Britain into the war in 1939. You will provide evidence for him to decide whether we should either go to war, or not. Over the week, you will compile a list of arguments for and against war and then write this into a letter to him on Friday. Today, as we are focused on the events that led up to the war, you will also be creating a timeline from 1918 to 1939 using the events in the Power Point. Don't forget to listen to the audio clips and watch the linked videos for more information.
