Our learning this term:

From nothingness came chaos, from chaos came air and water; from air and water came life. Then raising majestically from the darkness came Gaia, Mother Earth, a beacon of warmth and light.
Discover a fantastical world full of mythical creatures and legendary heroes. Poseidon, Apollo, Artemis and Zeus reign almighty from Mount Olympus, watching mere mortals on dusty Athenian streets.
Meet Theseus, the hero, and Helen of Troy, the beautiful face that launched a thousand ships.
Explore the terrains of Greece, where in pure blue skies, the sun scorches waxen wings and melts the fortunes of Icarus and Daedalus.

Homework guidance:

Homework is set on a Friday and due to be returned on a Wednesday. This includes:

-An optional list of fun and interactive tasks related our topical learning. These tasks are provided purely to give ideas, for those who would like to do some extra. This will not be marked, but is welcomed to be shared in class.

-A pre-learning task. These weekly tasks are essential and are expected to be completed because they relate to the up-and-coming learning in the next week. By completing these tasks, it will help pupils to gain a deeper and more advanced knowledge ready for our next lessons.

-A Spelling task. A small list is provided, pupils can choose one task a week to help to further embed their learning of the weekly words. Spellings are differentiated according to pupil's needs.

-Mathletics. 2 or 3 tasks are set weekly that again are in-line with pre-learning. The theme of the tasks set, will cover what is coming up in our next week's learning giving pupils a chance to get ahead and practise the skills needed for those lessons.

-Above all, the most important task, is to ensure children are reading for at least 10 minutes a day. This should be written into their reading record and signed by an adult. Pupils work towards achieving 50 reads, 100 reads, 150 reads and 200 reads throughout the year, so everyday counts!
