Term 4 Traders and Raiders

Picture 1

Our topic this term is Traders and Raiders! Big and strong, powerful and brave, the Saxons wave their battle axes and brandish their swords as they begin to invade Britain’s shores.

Sail back to the Dark Ages, where battles were rife and fear reigned. Find out about the life of the Saxons, including how they lived and where they came from. Meet the bloodthirsty Vikings from Scandinavia – never before had such terror swept the land.

Choose to be a Saxon or Viking and trade your crafty goods. But let’s keep it cool – we don’t want a fight breaking out!

Are you ready to shine a light on the dangerous and deadly Dark Ages?

Please see the document below for a list of books that are linked to this topic. You may wish to read one or two throughout this term at home.

Anglo-Saxon Immersion day!

We were very lucky today! Our visitor Mr Daniel came into school to immerse us all into the Anglo-Saxon history in Britain, their culture and some of the famous warriors who fought battles here in Kent.

We learned all about the battle at Crayford, Hengest and Horsa and Sutton Hoo.

Mr Daniel brought in some great replica artefacts and taught us some songs all about the Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Picts.

See our slideshow of pictures below.
